Planning time is here again and will this time be focused on Freshwater Marshes. We have only a handful of habitats left to address before our first "official" draft of the Arizona plan will be complete in January 1999. Thank you to everyone who sent in comments on the second draft and for those of you that have participated in planning meetings! Your support is making this plan possible.
Our next conservation planning meeting will be held on July 9, 1998 from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
in the Roadrunner room of the Phoenix Game and Fish offices. I thought it only fair that you
all get to experience July in Phoenix with me!! If you need directions to the office, please call
me at (602) 789-3575. Below are some possible priority bird species that we will be discussing
for freshwater marsh habitat. Please bring information that may aid our discussion on marshland
habitat (dominant plant species, importance of marshes, management issues etc.) and on the
following bird species:
Yuma Clapper Rail Marsh Wren
California Black Rail Northern Harrier
American Bittern Yellow-headed Blackbirds
Least Bittern
